Lillian GutierrezLillian Gutierrez is a native Coloradoan, former elementary school teacher, bilingual director and Region VIII Director with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Right (OCR). I retired from OCR three years ago. I received an AA Degree from Trinidad State Jr. College, a BA from Adams State College in Alamosa and an MA from the University of Colorado. I have been very involved within the Hispanic Community especially with LULAC and LAEF. I have served on a number of boards and commissions at the county, state and national level. On a personal note, I have a daughter, son, granddaughter, grandson and a great grandson. My daughter is a social studies teacher at North High School, my son is a middle school math teacher at Adams 12 and my granddaughter is an English teacher at West High School with the Denver Public Schools. While I enjoy retirement, playing bridge, going to the theater, lunch, and even poker with the fellows, I do have a deep interest in education especially those who are "being left behind" and continue to remain active in the educational arena.
