Lawrence H. Borom

Lawrence H. Borom was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He attended public schools and graduated    from Youngstown State U. with a B.S. in Education.  After three years in the U.S. Army, Borom taught one year in the Cleveland, Ohio Public Schools, after which he began a career with the National Urban League.  Mr. Borom received a Master of Arts degree in Urban Studies from Mankato State College in Minnesota, and has done doctoral studies in Sociology at U. of Colorado.  He has many years of human and civil rights experience, at national, state, city and local levels. Director of Minnesota’s Governor’s Human Relations Commission;  Director of Community Development for the National Urban League in New York City, N.Y.; CEO of Urban Leagues in St. Paul, MN, Grand Rapids, MI, and Denver, CO.  Mr. Borom has also served as Director of the Human Rights and Community Relations Agency,
for the City of Denver.   Borom has taught on the faculties of Metropolitan State U. of Denver, and the U.of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Always interested in education, Borom operated an alternative school in Minneapolis, MN.  For the last three years, Borom has been associated with the Challenges, Choices, and Images Charter School in Denver, as teacher and administrator.  He is married to Betty Borom and has two sons, Martin and James.
