Goal 1: Organize and implement a quality Equity Assistance Center in Region VIII
(Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming).

Objective 1: Establish by January 1, 2009 an eight member Advisory Board, including one representative from each one of the six states in Region VIII and two representatives at large.
Objective 2: Collaborate with each state education agency by co-offering one statewide Equity in Education training activity per year that will improve the academic achievement of students of color and English Language Learners (ELLs). |
Goal 2: Plan, coordinate, implement and/or collaborate with state agencies and programs in the offering of academic and scholarly activities and experiences that will help school boards, school personnel and parents to grow professionally in the areas of educating students of color and English Language Learners (ELLs).

Objective 3: Conduct each year one Equity in Education Conference in Region VIII for 50 participants.
Objective 4: Design and make available every semester, starting the summer of 2009, an on-line course related to Equity in Education.
Objective 5: Make available on a monthly basis during the school year, training and technical assistance on Equity in Education to school boards, local education agencies and government agencies. |
Goal 3: Monitor the process implemented in school districts to identify participants in Special Education and Gifted programs.

Objective 6: Establish a process in client agencies to assess students of color and ELLs for Special Education and Gifted Programs. |
Goal 4: Establish a complete website that will be available to all Region VIII potential clients.

Objective 7: Disseminate to each of the six states in Region VIII on a monthly basis, Equity in Education materials, information and lists of resources. |
